La formazione iniziale non mi è proprio piaciuta, la linea avanzata Pepe Nelson Willian è stata davvero modesta, Willian è un pensionato (del resto quello è il soprannome del Chelsea), Pepe pare impossibile che sia costato così tanto considerando che ha seri problemi a tirare decentemente in porta, e Nelson è un confusionario come pochi.
Solo l’entrata progressiva di Smith Rowe, Lacazette, Xhaka e Saka ha mostrato un altro Arsenal.
Comunque nei 90 minuti, il gol lo aveva sfiorato molto di più il Newcastle con il vecchio ma sempre bravo Carroll, nonostante il solitto atteggiamento difensivistico di Bruzio.
Nei supplementari due bellissimi gol di Smith Rowe messo in porta da Lacazette e di Aubameyang su imbeccata del migliore in campo per distacco, Tierney.
A me piace molto anche David Luiz, commette degli errori in difesa, ma èun giocatore in più per come fa partire l’azione e calibra lanci di 40 m sui piedi. Per me potrebbe giocare anche davanti alla difesa, forse anche meglio. -

Ma qualcuno di voi ha capito che cosa hai in testa Arteta?
Dopo 3 mesi pessimi, aveva trovato la quadra con Laca centravanti, Smith-Rowe dietro, Auba e Saka esterni, e oggi li ha cambiati tutti.
Risultato: un primo tempo noiosissimo.
Boh, magari adesso Pepe segna tre goal, però io non ci capisco niente.... -

Certo, io amo Ramsey, grandissimo giocatore e grande uomo.
Intendevo solo dire che non mi ero reso conto che aveva segnato più goal di un centravanti di ruolo, che all’epoca mi aveva fatto sognare, come Ade.

Ottima partita dei Gunners sotto la neve al the Hawthorns, e terza vittoria consecutiva.
Due settimana fa la crisi sembrava così profonda da essere inspiegabile, invece era colpa delle scelte sbagliate di Arteta: i cinque difensori e Lacazette in panchina per lasciare spazio ad un N’Ketiah ancora acerbo.
Invece era già da due partite che il francese stava giocando molto bene (quando è entrato) e segnando con regolarità, e oggi prima ha tenuto sù la squadra dando profondità al gioco, poi ha fatto due goal stupendi più altri sfiorati, uno con azione bellissima dalla linea di fondo, palla da una parte e difensore dall’altra. E proprio così ha segnato anche Tierney lasciando il difensore sul posto con un’accelerazione che ha spaccato la difesa e si è accentrato per segnare con un pallonetto liftato. Molto bene anche Smith Rowe nella linea dei tre dietro l’attaccante centrale mentre prosegue la crisi di Aubameyang. -

Saka dovrebbe essere recuperato dopo l’infortunio col Brighton, e quindi contro il derelitto WBA ha l’occasione per centrare la terza vittoria consecutiva e allentare un po’ la pressione generatasi a causa di questo pessimo inizio di stagione.

If you are Sam Allardyce, what do you say to the West Brom players after they were taken apart by Leeds?
Allardyce was full of praise for them after their excellent draw with Liverpool, but they were all over the place against Marcelo Bielsa's side in midweek.
Is he just going to sit in this time, and basically say "we start with a point and I'm happy if we finish with one"?
I don't see that game plan working against Arsenal.
The Gunners were in awful form before Christmas but they have won their last two games and are just starting to play well. They could quite easily go on a nice little run now.
After going to The Hawthorns, they start January with home league games against Crystal Palace and Newcastle, and host the Magpies in the FA Cup. All of those fixtures look winnable for them.

Avete ragionissima, la prestazione è stata sorprendentemente positiva e va rimarcata, anche perché non mi sarei mai aspettato che Arteta,, dopo che negli ultimi due mesi mi aveva fatto dubitare di essere (o almeno di avere l’esperienza di) un allenatore professionista, avrebbe trovato il coraggio di lasciare in panchina i senatori, o quantomeno i giocatori più pagati, per lasciare spazio ai giovani più motivati, lanciando così un importante messaggio alla squadra -

Finalmente una prestazione positiva dei Gunners, molto probabilmente dovuta alle coraggiose scelte di Arteta che, proprio quando la sua panchina scottava, trova il coraggio di lasciare fuori Pepe, Ceballos, NKetiah e persino Aubameyang (ultimamente poco motivato) e vince la partita con le energie fresche di Saka, Smith Rowes e Martinelli dietro a Lacazette.
Un pò di fortuna, un rigore generoso, un rigore parato da Leno, una bella punizione di Xhaka, e poi un gol bellissimo, se voluto, da Saka, con una traiettoria morbida in pallonetto tipo i due gol di Galderisi alla Stella Rossa qualche annetto fa, temo.

Sono momenti davvero tristi per tutti coloro che hanno a cuore la sorte dei Gunners.
Nonostante la vittoria della FA Cup e del Charity Shield, il club sembra essere sprofondato in un abisso di cui non si vede la fine.
Una ventata di ottimismo è giunta dalle voci secondo cui sarebbe stata fatta un’offerta a Max Allegri, che a me piace tantissimo, grande allenatore e persona intelligente, leale, gradevole e simpatica.
Anche ex del Padova, by the way.
Ma intanto incombe danni concessi ed è davvero difficile immaginarsi un risultato positivo se non cambierà praticamente tutto rispetto alle ultime disastrose partite con City ed Everton, e anche le precedenti ovviamente.

Arsenal aren't winning games but I would not point the finger at their manager, Mikel Arteta. I think their issues run far deeper that.
Their recruitment has not been good enough - I know it probably wasn't possible but I honestly think they need their former manager Arsene Wenger in charge of that side of things.
I look at some of the Gunners players, and I don't think they care enough. Are they particularly bothered if they keep losing games? I don't get the impression that they are.
Again, that's not Arteta's fault. Arsenal's better players this season have been their kids, because some of the older ones do not look like they are playing for Arsenal - I think they are playing for themselves.
Having said all of that, I have a feeling the Gunners will get something here. They are on a poor run, but they still have some quality players in their side, and they are going to show it at some point soon.
I am not totally convinced by Chelsea either. They were on a really good run until the start of December but I don't think they are consistent enough to challenge Liverpool for the title. The top four is a realistic target for Frank Lampard's side though.

Solo, non snobberei il campionato francese. E' il miglior serbatoio di giovani in Europa da più di 20 anni, e anche l'Arsenal ne ha sempre beneficiato, quindi credo che il problema di Pepe sia proprio Pepe, non il campionato. Non deve avere proprio una mentalità professionale, e probabilmente è stato anche sopravvalutato perché ha fatto vedere a sprazzi buoni colpi, mai colpi che giustifichino il prezzo che é stato pagato. -

Talmente tante sono le cose che non vanno, i giocatori che non si sa cosa facciano con la maglia biancorossa, tipo Ceballos e Holding, quelli strapagati e fuori rosa (Ozil), quelli che non trovano più la porta (Lacazette), quelli che non ci sono non si sa se per infortunio o polemica con la società (Aubameyang), quelli sopravvalutati (Pepe), quelli che hanno mandato a London N 5 il fratello scarso (Willian), il licenziamento del Gunnasorous perchè non ci sono i soldi per pagarlo quando ci sono per pagare Ozil che non gioca, che ormai non è più questione di difesa a 5 (che comunque non va) o a 4, o di questo o quel giocatore, è proprio tutto che non funziona, a partire da Kroenke, probabilmente, visto che il pesce puzza sempre dalla testa.
